Ring - 1 Novice Show Jumping

Class 1 55cm Novice Pony (14.2hh and under)

The jump heights are first round heights and will be increased for the jump off
The classes are for novice pony/rider combinations who have not won more than three firsts in show jumping classes at The Silver Horseshoe Riding Club. Once the combination have reached the first three prize limit the pony/rider combination may carry on competing in that height class until the end of the season. The pony/rider combination may also compete in the next height class in the Novice Ring. The following season the horse/rider combination will not be able to compete in that height class and must move up to the next height class in the Novice Ring and/or the Intermediate Jumping. The horse/rider combination may compete in the Intermediate Jumping but not the Open Jumping Classes at the judges discretion.
Pony/rider combinations may only compete in three classes in the Novice Ring as follows: - 55cm, 65cm, 75cm or 65cm, 75cm, 85cm
Class 5 Introductory Novice Horse (first round 65cm)
Class 6 Pre Novice Horse (first round 75cm)
Class 7 (Novice Horse (first round 85cm)

The Introductory Novice Horse Class is for novice horse/rider combinations who do not have the confidence/competence to compete in the Novice/Intermediate Horse Show Jumping and who have not won more than three first prizes in any other show jumping class at The Silver Horseshoe Riding Club. Once the first three prize limit has been reached for this class, the horse/rider combination may carry on competing in this class until the end of the season. The following year, the horse/rider combination moves onto Pre Novice Horse and/or Novice Horse Classes. Horse/rider combinations in the Introductory Novice Horse may compete in the Pre Novice Horse Show Jumping Class but not the Novice Horse Show Jumping Class or Intermediate Show Jumping/Open Show Jumping Ring.

A rider/horse combination that wins the OPEN Class - Class 21 - will NOT be eligible to compete again in the Novice Class - Class 20 on the same rider/horse combination for the remainder of the season.

To be judged on ability and suitability to participate in riding club activities. Competitors will be expected to perform an individual show and jump a single fence, maximum height 2' 6" in class ….. and 2' in class …..
Smart and correct turnout is expected but plaiting is not essential. While snaffle bridles are preferred other bits and martingales are acceptable but may be penalised if deemed unsuitable for either horse or rider!
Class 50 Family Horse or Pony (Two Riders required) One 14yrs or under and one 15yrs or over)
To be judged on suitability for two riders of different ages and abilities and to demonstrate the ability to have the manners and attitude to be a welcome addition to family life! Riders need not be family members!
The first rider should be mounted to show the horse working in walk, trot and canter collectively with the rest of the competitors while the second rider should be ready to mount in the line up in order to do an individual show! While it is at the competitors discretion as to the order of riders, the first rider needs to be able to maintain control whilst working as a group at canter. Canter is not essential in the individual show.
There will be rosettes for both riders to sixth place! No prize money will be awarded in class 50

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
It is a condition of entry that Exhibitors agree to be bound by the rules hereunder
1) The organising committee will accept no responsibility whatsoever for any
loss, injury or damage to any person or their property whilst on the showground, car parks or approaches.
2) We advise that all entrants and their horses/ponies are fully insured with
third party insurance and are fully vaccinated and carry a valid passport
with them at ALL times. Competitors may be asked to present their passport
when entering
3) Correct dress must be worn at all events
4) A hard hat with a correctly fitted chinstrap must be worn by ALL competitors,
Riders and judges whilst mounted. Correctly secured British Standard Skull caps/riding hats numbers EN 1384, PAS015 OR pas accredited MUST be worn.
5) Any horse/pony or rider acting in a dangerous manner may be asked by the committee to leave the showground. Excessive use of whips or spurs, foul language or cruelty will not be tolerated and may result in the offender being eliminated and asked to leave the showground or club.
6) The organizing committee reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes and alter and amend the running order.
7) Entry fees will not be refunded. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that their entry is correct, eligible and that they are available when called for their class. Exhibitors must take into consideration that classes may clash. If this occurs, they must nominate which class they wish to compete in. Classes will not be held up for more than 3 minutes.
8) The Judge's decision is final. Anyone deemed to be found verbally abusive, abusing or heckling judges, stewards, competitors or spectators may result in disqualification or expulsion from the showground. "All show jumping is run to BSJA rules"
9) In classes of 5 competitors or less, first placed prize money only will be awarded. If a competitor wins first or second prize in Style and Appearance or Best Turned Out, they cannot compete in the Most Appealing Class at that Show.
10) If a rider has had a fall or has dismounted in the ring, he/she will be disqualified from the class and must leave the ring immediately on foot and leading their horse/pony.
11) Any objection must be made in writing to the Secretary with a deposit of £20.00 in cash (refundable if the objection is upheld) within 30 minutes of the class taking place.
12) Horses and Ponies must be four years old and over in any ridden class. Stallion and colts must be suitably bitted and MUST NOT be led by any juniors who have not attained their 14th birthday before 1 January in the current year. No Stallions or Colts are allowed in the Young Handler Class.
13) Lead Rein Competitors may only enter Lead Rein Classes except in Beginners Jumping and Most Appealing Pony where they may compete without the Lead Rein. To be led by an attendant 14 years old and over and shown in a snaffle bridle with the lead rein attached to the noseband.
Any attendant under 16 years of age MUST wear a hard hat. Anyone over 16 is advised to wear a hard hat, however, if you do not you do so at your own risk.
14) No spurs or whips are allowed in any Gymkhana Games.
15) Show canes or whips to be no longer than 75cms (30 inches).
16) All dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times whilst on the showground.
17) Please do not leave any litter on the showground.
18) The mucking out of horse boxes/trailers is not permitted on the showground.
