Club Rules

THE SILVER HORSEHOE RIDING CLUB
RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

To qualify for membership rates, points and challenge trophies, a valid membership card must be produced when making all entries.

DRESS

Correct dress and hats conforming to BSI Standard with safety harness must be warn at all times.  Chin strap to be fastened at all times when mounted.

It is recommended that body protectors be worn at all jumping competitions.  Body protectors and Medicare armbands are compulsory at the Club’s Hunter Trials.

Spurs and whips are permitted in all classes except Games and Chase me Charlie.  Show Canes are allowed in Most Appealing, Style and Appearance and Best Turned Out up to 14.2hh.  Excessive use is not permitted and may be penalised by the steward and club.

OBJECTIONS

Any objection or complaint must be given in writing to the Secretary with a deposit of £20 within 15 minutes of the end of the class if the result is affected.  Alternatively, notify the Show Secretary.  If the objection is upheld, any deposit will be refunded.  The investigating committee’s decision is final.

WARNINGS

Members will receive one verbal warning, followed by, if necessary, one written warning if they do not comply with the rules of the Club.  Following one written warning, membership will be terminated.

POINTS

In all events in which a challenge trophy is awarded, all open show results will count towards points for members.  You must compete to be eligible for points.  Points will be awarded to members according to the name of the horse/pony on the entry sheet.  No alterations can be made.  The Competitor must be the named person on the entry sheet.

ENTRY TO EVENTS

The Committee has the right to refuse entry to any event and is not bound to state the reasons.  This decision is final.

ENTRY MONEY

NO REFUND OF ENTRY MONEY WILL BE MADE AT ANY EVENT.  THIS INCLUDES PRE-SHOW ENTRIES.

PRIZE MONEY

For five entries or less in a class then only first prize money will be awarded.

PRACTICE FENCE

When jumping the practice fence the red flag/wing must always be passed on the right hand side.

DOGS

Dogs must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.  You must clean up after your dog.

CLASHING OF CLASSES

It is the Competitors’ responsibility to decide which class to enter so that they do not clash with another class.  Every effort will be made to accommodate them in each class but this is at the judge’s discretion.

All tack and equipment must be correctly fitted and used at all times.

Litter, including horse/pony droppings, shavings, hay, straw etc must be cleared away from the parking area before you leave the showground.

The Club reserves the right to rescind both membership and challenge trophies from any member who brings the Club into disrepute.

NOVICE JUMPING

This class is open to any horse/pony and rider combination that has won no more than three first prizes in any jumping competition at the Silver Horseshoe  Show, excluding Lead Rein and Beginners.

WORKING HUNTER

If entering two or more horses/ponies in the same class with the same rider you must nominate which score to count to the showing phase.

NURSERY STAKES

Open to any rider aged 10 years and under on 1 January 2008.  Ponies in this event must not exceed 13.0 hh.  Pony/rider combinations in this class may not enter any other Working Hunter Class on the same day.

OPEN JUMPING

PONIES

This Competition is open to all ponies 14.2 hh and under.  No pony may compete with more than one rider.

HORSES

Open to all horses over 14.2 hh.  No horse may compete with more than one rider.

10 YEARS AND UNDER JUMPING

Open to any rider aged 10 years and under on 1 January 2008.  Ponies in this event must not exceed 13.2 hh.

BEST TURNED OUT AND STYLE AND APPEARANCE

Competitors who arrive late for their classes will be penalised and may, at the discretion of the judges, be disqualified.  It is the Competitors’ responsibility to arrive on time for their classes.

S & A FIRST RIDDEN

This is open to any rider aged 8 years and under on 1 January 2008 (Just off lead rein).  Ponies in this class must not exceed 14.2 hh.

LEAD REIN

ALL LEADERS OF LEAD REIN CLASSES ARE ADVISED TO WEAR A SAFETY HAT WITH STRAP FASTENED ACCORDING TO SAFETY REGULATIONS AT ALL TIMES.

Lead Rein members may only enter Lead Rein classes, except Beginner’s Jumping, in which they may compete without the Lead Rein.

Handlers in all Lead Rein classes must be over 14 years old.

Lead Rein and Toddler’s Lead Rein Competitors are together in “Best Turned Out Lead Rein” and “Style & Appearance Lead Rein” classes.  Show Day’s rosettes and points are awarded accordingly.  However, points are awarded to the rider’s category.  This would be Lead Rein or Toddler’s Lead Rein, whichever the rider’s age and membership states.

BEGINNER’S JUMPING AND PRE-NOVICE

This class is open to all Competitors who have not won a first prize in any show jumping competition off the Lead Rein.

Lead Rein Competitors may compete in this class off the Lead Rein.

Competitors who win this competition more than three times in a season are no longer eligible to enter this category.

IN HAND

Young Handler. Stallions and colts are not permitted in this class.  Accompanying adults may only intervene as a matter of safety.  Intervention will be penalised.
